V. Understanding Personal and Relationship Stress Program (3-6 hours)

High stress levels create peaks and valley of productivity. To combat these, everyone must know how to balance the urgent demands of their academic, personal and professional lives. The Coping & Stress Profile Assessment® represents a learning instrument that uniquely connects stress in four life areas: academics/professional, personal, couple and family. Individuals gain crucial insights into how stress in one area impacts the others, and how successful coping mechanisms in one area can decrease stress in another.

During this program each participant completes the Coping & Stress Profile Assessment®. By using that tool group members increase their awareness of how - and in what areas - stress affects them. The Profile also reveals each person's coping strengths, and identifies the coping resources whose development would be most helpful. Later, your team creates an Action Plan for making specific changes to reduce the stress and increase satisfaction in all areas of life.

This profile feature a unique ability to focus on the four interconnected areas of each person's life - academic/ professional, personal, couple and family - which always affect each other. For example, stress in a student's academic life creates stress in their family life. Furthermore, coping resources in one area of life can decrease stress in other areas. A supportive partner, for example, can help with stress in anyone's professional life. When people experience stress they engage the coping resources they developed. The greater variety of these coping resources, across all areas of life, the more effective the stress management and the more satisfied each person feels.
